Tile Maintenance & Cleaning

We’re often asked how to maintain tile and grout or stone floors. Our first big answer is to SAY NO TO MOP AND GLO!

Say no to mop and glo

The Do Not’s

Mop and glo and similar products will leave a residue on your tile floors. Over time the residue will actually attract soil causing the floor to get dirtier faster. The soil embedded in the residue can actually stain the grout, and dwell into the pores making it very difficult to remove, or cause permanent damage. This can be true for any product that has a lot of “soap” in it. The issue is once the soap dries to the floor the residue it leaves is hard to remove, along with the soil. What happens is most people will mix their cleaning product stronger to get the results they desire. Mixing the product stronger will mean more residue and the problem compounds itself.

The Do’s

As with carpet cleaning, the first step you want to do is remove as much dry soil as possible.( See our blog post on how important this is, here ) You can use a dust mop, broom, or your vacuum cleaner. The best cleaner for ceramic or natural tile is a neutral cleaner. The neutral cleaner will ensure no harmful residue will be left of on the floor, and it will not damage natural tile/stone. Please feel free to ask us for recommendations of neutral cleaning products for your floor(s).

Having your tile and grout cleaned professionally every 12-18 months will maintain its like-new appearance. We also have the ability to seal your tile and grout to keep your floor cleaner longer. We can perform your tile and grout cleaning at the same time as your carpet cleaning appointment. All we need is the approximate square foot of the tile area(s) you’re wanting to have cleaned so that we can give an estimate over the phone, and schedule the proper amount of time to perform the work thoroughly and correctly.

Feel free to check out our video and photo galleries to see real photos and videos of OUR WORK!
